I don't know what router they have but it works just fine. I have figured something out. If I disable the security on the router everything functions normal. I have setup a guest account with WEP security and it continues to malfunction never acquiring a network address. I know the Intel card is a legacy device but with the router security set for WEP shouldn't the router be backward compatible.
I also booted the laptop with a live Ubuntu CD and the wireless card functions normal. This indicates to me that this is not a hardware problem. I have overlooked your last post and didn't find anything that helped.
